"The Shade And The Black Hat" is the final track from Jeremy Enigk debut solo album Return of the Frog Queen. Exploding into a full symphony as Enigk's wails over an array of brass and wood instruments, the song crescendos into a perfect finale.
Recorded in 1996 during a break from his day job as lead vocalist in Sunny Day Real Estate, the album favours a more acoustic approach complimented by a full orchestra.
